Kelso Library Readers Group 26th June 2007
Kelso Library Readers Group 26th June 2007
Only five members attended the meeting this afternoon. Apologies were sent from Ivy Elder and Wendy Wilson, Isabel and Ken are still away, so the meeting was a little quieter.
Moira Coull had been reading one of Donna Leon’s Italian based Detective novels and “ The Age of Innocence” by Edith Wharton ,both of which she had thoroughly enjoyed.
Mary Easson had read “Crow Lake” by Mary Lawson which she thought was wonderful but a bit disturbing.
Christine , ever a voracious reader, had read “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” by Paul Torday.”Wild Mary” by Patrick Marnham. This raised some comments such as “ Wowee”and “Quite an eye opener”from the rest of us who had read it . She had also managed to finish “The Vanishing Act” by Mary Leonard but found the storyline a bit difficult to follow.
Pat is currently immersed in Michael Palin’s diaries, “The Python Years” but mainly concentrating on her homework on the Lower Nile.
We have asked Ruth if she can supply us with ten copies of ”The Observations” by Jane Harris and the same number of E.L. Doctorow “The March “. These will let us co-ordinate our reading for the autumn.
Perhaps if we all read the same book maybe our discussions will not be so noisy. Then perhaps not!
The next meeting of the Book Group is on Tuesday 25th.September at 2-30pm.
