4 Border Abbeys U3A - Notes from the Chair

Hullo and greetings to you all. I hope you have all had a good summer, despite the rather too frequent rain!
Some of the groups have continued to meet over the summer and the rest will now be beginning again with renewed enthusiasm; why not consider trying something new? We also have a new French group starting for beginners.
Jan has arranged a very varied and interesting set of speakers for the Open Meetings on Mondays. These meetings are also an excellent opportunity to meet people and hear about other groups; come early and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat. In December we shall again have our Christmas social afternoon instead of a speaker.
Our first speaker is Neil Horne, well known to many of you in Kelso. His talk on Malawi is sure to be interesting as he has visited and been involved with the country for a number of years.
Unfortunately for me, I shall be away for that meeting, but I know the rest of the committee will make you very welcome and I shall look forward to seeing many of you at the October meeting.

The committee are always pleased to hear your ideas and comments so do please speak to them and give us some feedback. The committee meets once a month on the morning of the Open Meeting days; in addition, at the September meeting, the Group Leaders are meeting with the committee for part of the morning. We do greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment of the group leaders and all of you who help to maintain the momentum and enthusiasm in the groups; thank you.

With very best wishes to you all.
Jean
