Here in Kelso we are lucky as we are badged to the newest and oldest Regiments in the British Army, Royal Regiment of Scotland 2006, Coldstream Guards 1650. Kelso Detachment is part of 'B' Company Lothian & Borders Battalion Army Cadet Force.
We meet every Thursday night 1900Hrs - 2100Hrs. If you are between the age of 12 to 18 years old come and see us.
Here is a short History of our Battalion:
The Lothian & Borders Battalion of the Army Cadet Force came in to existence on the 1st January 1992. The Battalion Headquarters is at Drumshoreland House, Broxburn, which is also a weekend training center. There is also a WETC at Ravendowne Barracks in Berwick upon Tweed . This maintains a strong link with the History of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and also means that cadets training there live in the first Barracks built for the British Army between 1717-21. They can see, on any visit, the superb exhibition by Beat of Drum that tells the story of the British Army. They themselves are a source of interest to the visitors to the Barracks.
The Battalion is broken down into six Companies. Five Companies are in Edinburgh and the Lothians, badged RA, RSDG, Scots Guards, Royal Regiment of Scotland, RE, RLC, and one in the Borders, which is 'B' Company, badged mostly Royal Regiment of Scotland, with one Detachment badged to the Coldstream Guards. Detachments meet one or two nights per week, and have weekends away about six times per year and two weeks Annual Camp in the summer. In Kelso, we meet on Thursday nights at 19.00 hrs at the Cadet House in Edenside Road Kelso. The activities we are involved with are as follows:
