New Horizons Borders (NHB) is a community self-help network and registered charity, which was set up by people who have been or are users of mental health services. NHB is for people over the age of 18 years who are or have in the past suffered from personal distress and difficult life events. This does not mean people have to have contact with psychiatric services to come along to the drop-in. They can simply be experiencing depression, isolation, loneliness or anxiety.
We meet twice weekly at the Abbey Row Dry Bar to offer each other mutual support and friendship. We are a small group where individual interests are encouraged and developed with the help of our drop in helper Margaret. The group is very informal and people are welcome to pop in for as long as they wish, for tea/coffee and a chat. We have a pool table which is popular but the emphasis is on providing a caring, relaxing and safe space where you can simply be yourself!
If you feel this could be for you then you can just turn up at the drop in and you will be welcomed, or you can contact us through the main office at Galashiels and we can arrange to meet you and bring you along. You are welcome to bring a friend for support on your first visit. Transport costs to the drop in are reimbursed for those living outwith Kelso and tea/coffee and biscuits are free!
Opening hours: Mon 1.00pm - 4.00pm Thurs 10.00am - 1.00pm
