Very Rev Dr John Burleigh

Born at Ednam in 1894 and educated at Kelso High School and Watson's College, Edinburgh, John attended University In Edinburgh, Strasbourg and Oxford. He was Professor of Ecclesiastical History at Edinburgh from 1931 - 1964, Dean of the Faculty of Divinity from 1956 - 1964, and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland 1960 - 1961. Amongst his many writings was 'A Church History of Scotland'. He died on March 22nd 1985.
